If they are just using a dictaphone then what do others think about jsut getting our own from somewhere and then we could actually record in the installtion period rather than some reconstruction thing in a studio afterwards?
Also, shame no water but perhaps we could have sweeties?
I also was thinking about manning and there are some artists here in the studio who I reckon would be relaly keen to help out. The cool and interesting thing about that would be that tehy are in artland as it were but are all untrained adn have very different takes on things like how to read art adn what it all means. There are some artists who are kinda thinking thinking types who would be great adn then also some who would be wonderful becuase they are pretty deadpan..........just to mix it up a bit?
I wondered whether we could have another briefing with volunteers who might be interested or even maybe we could invite them to the hosts thing? The artists I am thinking of are super reliable too whihc would be great.
I also thought in terms of using some artists from here (and elsewhere), I like the idea that some people would really get into talking about what the project is all about in quite an invovled way and other might just say I dunno, my gallery manager asked me if I wanted to sit here and the sweets are good. Want a flow chart? I guess I'm thinking about teh stuff that Paula was talking about with er can't remember the artist but the giving out badges thing. Felt good like us not being too prescriptive and strict in terms of telling people exactly what to do and think.
sweeties sounds good - maybe a mini version of that sweet pile artist - what's his name again?
I am into roar artists helping out - and i do remember the badge give-away artist, Bruce Barber - good analogy; deadpan, candid- lets go with it all, we dont want to be too polite thats for sure. It would be great if we could get Andie in on the recording action before she goes too - any ideas how?
wtf? who invited that guy. i also like that idea sian, in reducing the project a little at times. but also do we run the risk of losing efficacy? by having people who don't really care? i suppose that in a way that is 'trying not to try to hard'
i think it would be relatively straightforward to record our own podcast, and i also like the idea of doing it outside of the sanctions 'recording systems' that the city gallery has designed. i liked the immediacy of recording it during the install, actually being there and watching works being fabricated. it would be a pity to lose that by having to record later on.
pity about the water! but everyone's a fan of lollies. and i like the idea of making them aesthetically pleasing, maybe picking out orange, red and yellow wine gums or something
Lollies are a nice idea, but, I hate to be a kill joy-we'll have to okay it with Heather first because there's a no food or drink rule in the gallery. Then again steve carr's work is technically 'food' only his won't be allowed to be touched. I think the only worry for gallery staff would be if kids spat out their lollies on the artworks or something, seems trivial really...
Wrapped lollies any better?!
Didn't mean it to sound like the artists wouldn't care if they came from ROAR!, just a couple I can think of who are super into art but just very deadpan in a goodly funny eccentric way even when it's something they are passionate about!
Honesty boxes I reckon are a bit ambitious to make in terms of time and also the trolly has been quite a lot of work so far for Tyree. I also like the idea of peoples' responses being open rather htan hidden away. Feels like this is more in keeping with our project like collaboration through people working off others ideas and input. What about even just some pockets which could be fabric, painted orange and people could just drop their responses in there? I could make them easy as and they could be a nice compromise between open and closed. They could say 'put the answer in my pocket......'!
Yes to sayin gthat teh unit is mobile and moved by us and hosts.
I reckon record live in installation and make it 10 to 15 mins? Sounds like there is quite a lot on the pod cast so do others think that's too long?
I reckon yes to our own supplement for the hosts.
