stepping out
well...
in light of Sians departure from Tac the (now) two wellington-based members have decided we definitely need to make a priority of finding more collaborators.
The way we see it, a down-scaled unfunded run of posters will do the job just fine. Cheap and cheery, black and white, photocopier printed and distributed over the next couple of months with a plan to meet up in the new year.
It seems practical that there won't be much real action until around late January - considering that, I think we should work towards planning a hoolie of us all around that time in Wellington. Also, by that stage Toms move back won't be far off the horizon. (land ahoy!)
Above is a pre pre pre idea for poster, see comments for a draft of an email to be sent out to potential interested peoples.

Ahoy Taccers,
this poster looks great: friendly and approachable. it'll be interesting to see who contacts us.

?
blog and email me thinks....
----UPDATE----
The following is an email template for sending to potential interested collaborators. Can you guys please read over and respond to questions below.
Hi and thanks for your interest,
The Association of Collaboration (Tac) is an art project formed in late 2006 whose members came together through an interest in using and testing collaborative processes.
Since our last project finished in April, several of our members have moved away and so we are looking to bring some new people on board in 2008 to work with and develop our next, as yet undecided, project.
TAC makes decisions through the process of consensus and uses a publically accessable blog to store and maintain communication with remote members.
For some info on our past projects you can visit:

We are planning on getting together with interested parties sometime in late January to meet and talk about possibilities but in the meantime are happy to answer any more questions you might have.
Best,
Liz Allan and Paula Booker, Wellington TAC members.
Is there anything I have forgotten to include? How’s the tone/wording? Too much/not enough info?
Also, I think we should ask for a brief para introducing themselves if they haven’t supplied one already and I also think we should write individual ones on us and make them accessable on the blog.
I think it would be fun to not write our own but write each others – maybe buddy up or in a circle. Anyone into that?
I think it is good liz.
I do not think it needs changing at all (except for the typos!) It is warm and also informational in a good way.
if we ask for a breif or bio from them I think we need to let them know what it is for tho.
eg. is this an 'open call' ? Or will we be choosing new members from selceted bios that come in?
i think it should be an open and fair process but not putting us at risk.
Happy to help write bios for other members. its alsways more fun if you don't take it too seriously!
xp
Heidi hi,
Sounds ace! But also, I wonder if this is one of those instances where you folks could have forged ahead as team Welly without us all feeding back? It's good to be aware of though - and certainly looking forward to meeting back up! How does 26/27 January sound? Tom, how much longer are you at HSP?
Cheerio,
M
sage observation mel - I must be stuck in a holding pattern, addicted to feedback from all those brilliant comprehenders and writers amongst us!
Those dates are good for me, I was thinking it would be a good opportunity for TACunited to meet any interested people then too.
Open call, I'll add it in, good remembering Paula. Asking for some bio info seems practical because they will have heaps of info on us and it would be nice to get an idea of who they are too - informally later at meet-up is fine too though.
I see a hole - the two fold project! pardon me Andie!
... mmm yes, when do you finish up down south Tom?
Lookin' good ladies!
thanks for keepin' us in the loop but Mel's right, feel free to use your autonomy
that said of course I'd like to participate in the "selection process" (for lack of a better phrase) for the sake of the privacy of prospective new members what say we email their bios around rather than posting them on the blog? or at least until their membership has been confirmed?
I'm coming back to wellington for a few days mid jan, though it looks likes I'll miss out on the meeting, still would be great to catch up - and if not in welli then elsewhere along the way (we're working our way from Dunedin all the way to the top, well, to Auckland that is)
hi hi
email looks good - good amount of info i think without being too scary and involved.
just to clarify process - the posters get put up out and about, and people are invited to contact us through email, and then this email will be sent out to them as information klow down. then bios sent in, then meeting up in late january?? is that the deal??
i will be in welly from about 7-13 January i think. and am finishing at HSP at the end of March, so will be up in Welly some time shortly after that.
also happy to write up bios for other members. :)
Yep, that's the story Tom - apart from some indecision about whether we should ask for 'bio' info before a meet-up or whether it would be better to leave it more informal and get the low-down at a meeting instead.
Perhaps we will just play it by ear according to response.
I say we keep it as open call as possible - my hope is that once people get an idea of what TAC is about they can filter themselves. I think a pre-selection process would be too anti-thetical to what TAC welli is trying to achieve with open call, public poster run, trying to get outside of established networks ...
Tom and Andie will both be around mid-Jan, great - is a trip down to Welli on 12-13 possible for you Mel?
Thanks for your comments peeps - appreciated muchly.
