Banking

hey all

some feedback from chch where it has suddenly become like antartica, though no snow in the city which i find quite dissapointing.

... [have moved Toms thoughts on new members to the meeting minutes comments section for comprehension -L]

in other news, am having a bit of a dilemma in the banking department. we can't open an account where everyone can withdraw money unless we are registered as a society or charitable trust. after investigation i found out that this costs about $150 to become one. so, i thought that next best option would be to open an account under my name, and someone in Wellington could sign up as a joint-account person so as to have more transparency in banking (hehehe, i accidentally wrote baking before that) matters. i have opened an account with Kiwibank, so if someone would like to volunteer as a Wellington joint treasurer then I can get in communication with them about the details.

another problem is that the cheques we have received have been made out to 'The Association of Collaboration', this means that I am not able to deposit them at all because of course I am T. Sleigh, no The Association of Collaboration which doesn't exist in a legal sense. so, I think I need to get in contact with the Museums Trust and New Plymouth City Council, to see if they can make the cheques out to an individual member of TAC and then they can be deposited in the account.

does all this make sense? and should be have one account now for all splinter groups of TAC?
whew. money matters make me tired.

thanks for sorting all that out tom.
to answer a few questions;
your recruitment possibility sounds good, but you may need to have a way for people you don't know to get involved - as per the initial call. i think non-exclusivity is an important part of TAC in general, and we certainly dicussed that as a central tenement in our meeting re: recruitment.
also
a potentially fast problem solver:
when i ran canary gallery i opened a kiwibank account for the gallery.
the name of the account was 'Canary Gallery' as kiwibank had a feature where you can give your accounts special names. some other accounts that i have are 'personal' 'work' 'tax' etc. maybe it was easier to do because i already had some accounts set up with kiwibank.

i was able to deposit cheques made out to 'canary gallery ' easily heaps of times, i never have had a single problem in fact!
perhaps you could try that? it will be you, T. Sleigh as the account holder. it will have its own cash-flow card, cheque book if needed and will be accessible by you, account holder via internet banking. you could set it so that the statemtnts are emailed to the association's gmail address, where we can all view them (for the sake of transparency)
it is my personal opinion that TAC could manage with a single account holder. i know from Enjoy what a hassle it is to get 2 signatures on every cheque...it is nessesary there tho, as larger amounts of money are handled. we'd be pretty lucky if we even get to have a few thousand in the bank, from a funding grant or the like. i'm happy for you to be the sole trasurer, but not sure of the other's thoughts.

On money matters......good on ya girl! We will need to acess some money to move the CAMRU via trailer or removal van into L and P's studio in town. I suggest one of the Welly in town girls as co-signature er as I am not close to a bank and am now at home four days a week YAY!

Sorry just read Paula's bit. Yes it is a pain to get two signatures on a cheque. I am happy for Tom to be the signature er.

I'm happy for Tom to be sole account holder and direct the statements to our tac email. If we ever end up with a substantial amount of $ then we should set up a joint signature arrangement then, but no need now I rekon.

ok cool,
will go ahead with setting up an account, and get kiwibank to accept 'Association as Collaboration' as account name so i can put cheques made out to this name into it. have the day off tomorrow so will do it then :)
