Excavating some interesting ideas from the blog (circa 2007) we (Borrelle & Tjhia) stumbled across the '1 Week Decision' thread. Like to ask: Can we request a brief tutorial on this process, on its inception, relevance and also the successes/failures of OWD as a possible engine for action: a sort of an historical reenactment so to speak. Perhaps a concept that appealed given the ambling nature of inter-island/continental communication...
Any one up for such an activity?

One week decision making was implemented after TAC splintered off to different cities (Andie to Melbourne, myself to Chch, and Mel to New Plymouth).
Basically, we were still trying only to make decisions through consensus. So, any question or query or attempt to move forward was posted on the blog, or emailed round and then we had to wait for everyone to have some time to email back before we could do anything.
This was taking toooooo long. So, for important decisions which needed to be made ASAP, we started to put on a 'One Week Decision' tag on the post, so that other TACers would know that this needed to be answered - even if it was just as simply as saying a 'yes' or a 'no' and leaving it at that - atleast then small decision could be made with minimum fuss.
It actually worked pretty well. Less well on the blog, but better when we did an email round and said 'this is a One Week Decision so get back to me ASAP'.
I guess it was just a small system that helped not-so-important decisions to be made by everyone, but it didn't take 3 weeks.
I think we should still use it in our build up to Yogya and it is good for small administrative stuff.
